An eight-suite hotel just outside of Villa la Angostura, Luma is a family-run lakeside retreat in Argentina’s Lake District. With big airy suites looking out over the lake, homemade food and a menu that changes daily, Luma is a home from home and a tranquil base from which to explore the beautiful lakes region.

Just a 15-minute walk or cycle ride from Villa la Angostura, Luma is built into the hillside on the banks of Lago Nahuel Huapi on the Seven Lakes route between Bariloche and San Martín de los Andes.

The hotel has 8 suites, divided into junior, premium and terrace suites all with stunning lake views. Each suite is individually decorated, and feels as though it belongs in a Tuscan villa with high-beamed ceilings, big French doors and spacious bathrooms.

Luma is set back from the main road, protected by an arrayanes forest. There is no space for parking by the entrance to the hotel so a short trail leads through the forest to the front door. A big open plan lounge and dining room greets guests as they come in and staircases on either side lead off to the guest rooms.

Designed to be a relaxing retreat exclusively for grown-ups, facilities include a spa, with a sauna, heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool and sundeck with sweeping views of the lake. For those without their own car or wanting to be more active, the hotel can also organise kayaking, sailing, mountain biking, hiking and fishing.
