Review

Entre Cielos aims high…and delivers. For us it is a fantastic property with vast grounds and views of the cordillera mountain range resembling somewhat a contemporary art centre with a 1960’s chic aesthetic. The industrial concrete walls, strong colour palette and statement furniture may not your cup of tea but for what it is and what it does, we think this property deserves to be considered. An added plus of staying here is of course the Spa with the Hamman circuit for detoxing and rejuvenating, which will come in handy after all that wine tasting!

Location

Located in the Vistalva area, just 20 minutes from Mendoza town centre and a 10-minute drive from the picturesque little town of Chacras de Coria. As it is set in a 3.2 hectare vineyard, the property produces its own exclusive lines of Malbec wine (Marantal), some of which has received recognition.

Rooms

Decorated in an urban chic style, there are 6 room types ranging from standard/superior to a Limited Edition “floating” loft. The latter is situated over the vineyards themselves and is an interesting concept for those looking for total immersion, exclusivity, unparalleled views and a bit of seclusion. The majority of the rooms have pool and vineyard views whilst a handful on the opposite side, have garden views. No matter what your room type, however, you can count on sun deck chairs and table in your outside terraced area. You can also count on staying connected to the outside world, as there’s a Wi-Fi router for high speed internet in each room. In the main building, the rooms carry distinct names instead of numbers, which are all taken after the characteristics of Malbec wine tasting such as pineapple, herbs, truffles, etc. There is plenty of light in this part of the world and all the rooms at this property certainly make the most of it. Despite the building being a huge concrete block, the rooms are decorated with warm and vibrant colours and with elaborate furnishings in the superior rooms.

Layout

The building is spread out in an L shape layout with vast manicured gardens at the front, a spacious restaurant & bar accessible from one side of the reception area. This has views over the vast garden to the pool and Jacuzzi and beyond to lines of olive trees and the property’s own vines.

Features

Entre Cielos is architecturally a mesh of concrete modernism, infused with vivid colours that inject vitality to the space. It can be best described as a cool, contemporary environment. We like the personal touch with welcome cards left in each room to greet new guests clients which are personally signed by the hotel manager. They take safety quite seriously here! You will find infrared sensors and security CCTV cameras throughout the main corridors and communal areas.

Art aficionados will enjoy the many artworks on display around the property including small temporary art exhibitions they feature. In this respect, the property reminds us of El Casco Art Hotel in Bariloche which carries a similar concept. We like the eclectic menu at the onsite restaurant Katherina. There are a couple of recommended dining establishments to choose from, right by the entrance to the property, so you probably won’t feel the need to venture too far to dine out.

Space, service, environment and the fabulous spa.

Modernist sensibility which may not be to everyone’s taste.
