Review

Without a doubt our pick of the hotels in Puno, the Hotel Libertador is located on its own private island and offers unparalleled views over Lake Titicaca. Service is helpful and attentive and the hotel has a wide range of facilities, including a beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking the lake. The main attraction of staying here, however, is the fact that every room has a view of the Lake and is either East-facing for sunrise or West-facing for sunset.

Around a 10 minute drive outside of the centre of Puno, the Hotel Libertador is set in a quiet and private position, away from the hustle and bustle of town. Occupying a small island, which juts out from the eastern edge of the lake, the hotel has its own dock for departures to Uros, Taquile and Amantani and walking trails which lead around the island.

The hotel is made up of 123 rooms, ranging from Superior Rooms through to spacious Suites, with a living and dining area. All of the rooms have lake views and face towards the East or West, meaning you will either have a view of the Lake at sunrise or sunset. Although the rooms feel slightly small in size, the fantastic views more than make up for this point.

Facilities at the hotel include a restaurant, serving a mixture of international and traditional Andean cuisine and a bar with a large outdoor terrace, giving great views over the lake. The hotel also has a spa with a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, as well as a small gym (although we probably wouldn’t advise using it due to the altitude!), games room, business centre and boutique.
