Hotel Altiplanico

Location

At only 10-15 minutes walk to the central Plaza de San Pedro, the Altiplanico is close enough to easily explore the town, but still maintains a peaceful distance to avoid the noise of the hustle and bustle. Budding astrologers or geologists will be pleased that the Museo del Meteorito is only 500 metres down the road!

Rooms

There are a total of 39 independent “houses”, of which 16 are Superior and the remaining 23 Standard. The style is based on the native adobe buildings, using thick clay walls, local stonework and thatched roofs, providing natural warmth in the night and coolness in the day. The main difference between the two room types is the outdoor, private, shower for the superior rooms, in addition the shower in the en-suite; as well as being slightly larger rooms. Every room has a private terrace to the front; with one standard room having a roof terrace instead. There is one set of interconnecting rooms, with a shared bathroom. All rooms include an electronic safe and heating.

Layout

Set in a plot of 4.5 acres, Altiplanico’s accommodation is spread out in three semi-circular rings, divided by small fields of cultivated bamboo and pampas grass. The main building, consisting of the reception desk, semi-open lounge area and restaurant is located to the front of the complex by the entrance. The reception also provides complimentary refreshments. In the corner of the plot is the swimming pool with a bar and plentiful seating.

Activities

Hotel Altiplanico cannot boast for much in the way of features. The swimming pool is all they have in the way of a spa; and be aware that the fire-pit in their outdoor area can no longer be lit due to insurance purposes. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The upside of these limitations is that it does make Altiplanico a reasonably priced option in the San Pedro area.
