Hotel El Mercado

El Mercado is located in the centre of Cusco and is well-positioned for exploring the city; just a couple of blocks from the Plaza de Armas and Plaza San Francisco. From the second-floor balcony there are pretty views over Cusco’s terracotta-tiled roofs to the Cathedral and Iglesia de la Compañía.

Occupying the premises of a former market, El Mercado is set out in much the same way as it would have been as a market place. Entering the hotel’s reception area through a small door from the street, the space opens out with a large internal courtyard leading off to the hotel’s restaurant, breakfast room and bar. Staircases then lead off to the hotel’s rooms and suites positioned on the first and second floors.

The 27 Superior rooms are bright and welcoming, with a mixture of modern amenities and authentic decor throughout. All rooms are equipped with heaters, coffee makers and Smart TV's to ensure guests have a comfortable stay. For added space and luxury, you can opt for one of the hotel’s 5 suites, which feature open fireplaces, walk in wardrobes and roll-top baths.

In-keeping with the market theme, the hotel has its own breakfast area and coffee shop called “El Mercadito” and a lounge bar “La Taberna" serving tapas with fresh, locally-grown produce. As with all of Mountain Lodge’s of Peru’s projects, at El Mercado there is a high emphasis on service and providing guests with an insight into local culture and traditions. As a result, it’s an ideal resting stop before or after the Salkantay or Lares Program and a great base for exploring the city of Cusco.
