Walking: The Lake District
A stunning region to spend a few days walking through valleys and along the shores of lakes
Bariloche and the region to the north, as far as San Martin de los Andes, can be a truly wonderful walking experience and is well worth taking a look at. Bariloche itself is set at the southern shore of the Nahuel Huapi Lake and National Park and so provides plenty of walking trails. Running north from here, again, there are plenty of places to use as a base to then go out and explore the local environs.
Heading west from the city, you go towards the Llao Llao peninsular and the famous hotel of the same name. This walk takes you out into a series of interconnecting lakes and the chance to head up to the small mount in the center that offers stunning panoramic views.
Heading further north from Bariloche, you then come to Villa la Angostura, a small village that is right on the other end of the lake. Again, this is an area of outstanding natural beauty and so, planning a walk around one of the many lakes of the region can be very rewarding (in particular the Parque Nacional Lanin).
On the whole, we recommend having a chat with your consultant as to what hikes will suit you personally as there is a good range of options, areas and accommodation types in the region.
