Review

A haven of tranquillity and warm hospitality on the banks of Lago Nahuel Huapi, Peninsula Petit is a consistent favourite for us in the Lake District and for good reason! Nestled into the hillside on a tranquil peninsula between Bariloche and Llao Llao and less than an hour’s drive from the airport, the hotel benefits from owners who are the most attentive of hosts and delicious home-cooked food. Add to this the reasonable room rates and you can see why we think it offers unparalleled value for money in this area of Argentina.

Location

Peninsula Petit is located on the banks of Peninsula San Pedro, which juts out into Nahuel Huapi Lake, 20km west of Bariloche. The hotel is surrounded by hikes and located on the scenic Circuito Chico driving route.

Rooms

The rooms are divided into standard and special rooms. All of the rooms look out directly over the lake but special rooms are slightly bigger and have a king bed rather than a queen as in the standard rooms. Simply decorated, the rooms are all en-suite and special rooms have a small seating area for looking out at the views.

Layout

At the hotels heart is the warm and cosy lobby and living room with panoramic views over the Lake. Steps and a corridor lead off to the guest rooms and on the other side is the hotel’s small and inviting restaurant where the owner prepares a freshly made menu in the evenings.

Features

Despite being only a 20-minute drive from Bariloche, Peninsula Petit is positioned in one of the quietest parts of the lake, surrounded by native forest and mountains. It has its own pebble beach accessed via a short trail down the hillside to the lake’s edge where you can swim, kayak and watch the sunset. Breakfast consists of delicious homemade sweets and pastries and a daily special, which, Pablo, the owner, cooks up in the kitchen.

Pablo and his sister Natalia do an excellent job of making all guests at the hotel feel extremely welcome and at home; everyone is greeted with homemade hot chocolate on arrival and from that point forwards you get the impression that there’s really no request that would be too much trouble!

Excellent service and value for money
