Review

The Grand is part of a hotel group with quite distinct brand properties in Iguazu and Punta del Este in Uruguay. The Grand Buenos Aires would suit someone who wants all modern commodities, the service standards of a boutique property but with a more affordable price tag. Well located in the Recoleta District, this is certainly a good option in the main.

Location

In Recoleta, which is perhaps one of the best reasons for picking this property, given the reasonable the rates on offer. Using the hotel as a base you are a short walk from some of the main draws of the city such as the Recoleta Cemetery and the Palacio Rosario.

Rooms

The hotel in general exudes a cosmopolitan feel so it won’t suit someone looking for a cosy environment or a home from home. The décor is very contemporary and consistent with all room fittings and features which are fully up to date as the hotel only opened in October 2012 (iPod docking stations, remote devices to operate blinds, large LED TV screens and so on). The rooms are fairly compact but of a comfortable size all in all.

Layout

Customers will appreciate the open plan airy lobby, the ultra-modern business centre with mac stations, “Jenny”, the restaurant spread over a large dining area serving an excellent menu as well as the lobby bar “Club 31” which is essentially a cocktail bar adjacent to the dining area and has a decent wine list menu. Other facilities worth mentioning include the very well equipped “Floralis” spa with treatment rooms, a steam room, sauna, Scottish shower and a rooftop outdoor counter-current swimming pool. The gym is not large but pretty well equipped compared to other hotels of this stature. There isn’t much outdoor space to talk about in this hotel so you won’t be spending too much time here, but we don’t think this is a major drawback given the location of this property.

Features

Some clients will be interested to know that this was the first hotel in Argentina to be built from the ground up to be eligible for LEED certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
