Location
Hotel del Parque is within the grounds of the city’s Historic Park. The 8-hectre park was built to showcase the city’s rich history and also homes the botanical gardens, zoo, cocoa & chocolate museum and even a small replica ‘town’ that recreates Guayaquil’s growth since the 1880s. A real bonus is that guests can access this Historic Park when it is closed to the public (all day Mon & Tues plus before 09:00 and after 17:00). Both the airport and the new boardwalk development, Malecon 2000, are 10-15 mins by car.
Layout
Hotel del Parque is designed like many affluent, Spanish properties of the 19th century – a grandiose two-storey building based around a central courtyard. This patio area is now adorned with fountains and tropical plants. The chapel and bell tower has been modified to house the hotel’s spa, as well as a platform with 360-degree views of the park. Within the hotel is the peaceful Cafeteria el Jardin, or the restaurant is in a separate building overlooking the river.
Rooms
All 44 rooms & Suites at Hotel del Parque are beautifully decorated with light colours and authentic Ecuadorian furnishings. Even the lead-in Deluxe double rooms are spacious, although do note that some view the courtyard rather than the gardens. To guarantee a garden-view, upgrade to a Deluxe King or Signature king room. The Junior Suite can connect to a King room, ideal for a families wanting a 2-bedroom suite. The Park Suite is vast and even has an optional private butler!
Features
In addition to the amenities within the Historic Park, Hotel dep Parque offers supplemental activities, such as a coffee experience, chocolate experience and a guided tour of their ‘healing herb’ garden. The children’s scavenger hunt is always popular for the little ones, whilst the adults might prefer a massage in the spa! There is also a fitness centre and reading room with games.
