Located at around 5 minutes drive out of the town, Los Cauquenes Resort & Spa is one of two fantastic hotels in the area. Designed along the lines of a ski chalet, using plenty of warm yellow Lenga wood in its construction, the hotel offers a great variety of food, activities and overall luxury. With features such as the incredible view from the front, we highly recommend it.

Definitely the top hotel in or around Ushuaia, Los Cauquenes has made a reputation for itself as the place to stay. It is also in the high end of the price bracket and so debatable whether it is worth the money. Located at around 15 mins out of town, it is very much a retreat style “lodge” rather than a hotel to use to see the city. They do operate a free transfer bus into town but it is pretty sporadic and so usually does not work too well.

All of the rooms are very spacious and very comfortable, with the even numbers looking to the mountains and the odd numbers looking out across the bay. As Los Cauquenes Resort & Spa is located on the way from the town to the National Park, it means that they benefit for having a private beach and unhindered views out to the Darwin range beyond.

Along with a good spa, pool (inside and outside), Jacuzzi (in and out) Los Cauquenes has really made full use of the views with a series of relaxation areas to choose from. Another benefit that the hotel has is that it is almost entirely constructed out of the local Lenga wood and so really has a warmth and inviting ambience.
