Aranwa Pueblito Encantado del Colca

The Aranwa Hotel is located in the tiny village of Coporaque, around a 20 minute drive from the town of Chivay and the main centre of the Colca region. The last 10 minutes of the drive involve driving down a windy dirt track to reach the hotel, which is built in a deep valley at the side of the Colca River and a set of thermal pools.

Built in the style of a small village or “pueblito”, the hotel is made up of a series of colourful houses and chalets, which are set around pretty gardens at the side of the river.

Guest accommodation is divided up into 32 deluxe en-suite rooms and 9 suites and chalets which are split over two floors and have their own kitchenette and lounge area.

Fairly simple in decor, the rooms come with satellite TV, stand-alone heaters and fridge mini-bar.

Facilities at the hotel include an outdoor plunge pool and lounge area, spa and indoor solar-heated pool and a modern restaurant and bar where nightly pisco and bread making classes are held.

The restaurant’s food is excellent but the modern decor and music may not be to everyone’s tastes and does distract slightly from the otherwise peaceful and traditional feel of the hotel. Other features include a chapel and two pet llamas and alpacas, who live in the hotel’s gardens but keep very much to themselves!
