Estancia El Ombu

Location

Located approximately 20 minutes outside the town of San Antonio de Areco, staying in the Estancia el Ombu is truly to take a step back in time. The town itself is famed throughout Argentina as being the last bastion of the gaucho and the town still has many local artisans who work both silver and leather empoying the methods used for generations. A visit into town is certainly a highly recommended activity.

Rooms

As the property is a converted cattle ranch, the rooms are, as you would expect, more functional that feature driven but this is very much the aim. Here you are expected to head to bed in the cooler periods with a hot water bottle and a heavy blanket rather than plasma screen and surround sound.

Layout

Situated around the main house, the farmland sweeps away to the horizon in a way that characterises the Pampas region of Argentina. At the heart of the house is the billiard and lounge area with a roaring fire that blazes in the winter months and warms even the coldest of days.

Features

The main feature of this historical estancia is really its connection to the past. All of the main areas and bedrooms have been decorated to preserve the sense of history that you have when coming here and, with a modern swimming pool, a gaucho horse display and the guarantee of a traditional “asado” barbeque while here, these are many of the reasons to come and stay!
