Arguably the most famous lodge in Argentina, the Cavas Wine Lodge has become an institution in the Mendoza for its high standards, exceptional food and stunning location…and its price! Set in beautiful vineyards each of these quirky cabins has its own rooftop area in which to lounge and take in the sights and sounds around you. With the levels of service to be expected from a Relais & Chateau property, the Cavas Wine Lodge really is travelling in style.

Located not too far from town in its own vines, the Cavas Wine Lodge has long been seen as the property to measure yourself by. Accordingly this has also meant a steady increase in its prices, but there is a reason that it is still full throughout the year.

The main building itself is a luxurious combination of dining areas, a comfortable lounge, small pool, wine tasting room and spa. Each area has been well considered and offers a chance to meet other guests in the hotel and to also take a little time out from the world. With exceptional food and service, to dine here in the evenings or for a long lunch is one of the highlights of a stay in the wine region.

Many who stay in Cavas Wine Lodge, however, rarely leave their room! The rooms are a wonderful combination of imagination and luxury, with each of them feeling like something out of a Gaudi creation or a Flintstone’s movie! Each has a comfortable lounge area, plunge pool and roof terrace where it is possible to dine al fresco in the evenings and relax during the days.

Cavas Wine Lodge was another stunning property.

We loved our wee ‘house’ ….it was all good.

The food in the restaurant was very good and all the staff were lovely. On our first day there we asked for directions to the nearest winery that did lunch within walking distance. They were a bit taken aback….but provided us with a walking through the vineyards map and a dog alarm(!) and off we went… it took us just over an hour to get to another beautiful winery where we had a really good lunch and wine tasting…then we walked back….when we got back they told us we were the first ever guests who had walked!! It was a memorable day.

The next day we didn't move from our gorgeous wee ‘house’ until dinner time. I suspect it was your kind work that resulted in us being phoned when we were in our room and told that there was a bottle of fizz and some treats on our rooftop terrace!

Stunning hotel with large well equipped rooms. The roof top terrace was fantastic and a real surprise to return from dinner to find the outdoor fire lit and sparkling wine waiting for us. The views from the terrace of the Andes was spectacular. Very helpful staff who arranged wine tastings for us. If taking a taxi make sure you have the hotel card as not all taxis knew exactly where the hotel was!

We were particularly impressed by hotel in Mendoza, Cavas Wine Lodge was amazing in every way, and the customised Sparkling Wine tour was eye opening and kept us well watered. Unfortunately there were some minor issues during our stay at Cavas, but the staff were exceptionally professional and eager to please and ensured that all the issues were resolved quickly and efficiently.

Cavas was also perfect in every way except one slight niggle: while the food was on par with Eolo, the portions were very ‘North American’ in size. This is probably a function of the large number of US guests but nevertheless it slightly cheapened the dining experience. Sometimes less is certainly more.
