Review

The latest and most contemporary, luxury property on the Sacred Valley hotel scene. The Tambo del Inka Resort & Spa is the largest property in the area, but the dizzyingly high ceilings, spacious gardens and expansive interiors provide a very tranquil setting. A real bonus is the private train station – providing guests with a daily service to and from Aguas Calientes station...and Machu Picchu!

Location

The hotel is located in the small town of Urubamba. Whereas most of the town sits to the north of the main road, Tambo del Inka has a secluded spot south of the road, with the Urubamba river providing a picturesque boundary to the hotel gardens.

Layout

You are greeted by a spacious lobby with a welcoming fireplace. Reception and the main bar are located on the ground floor; along with suites & rooms to both sides. The restaurant, swimming pool, spa and gym are located on the lower floor, that opens out to the terrace & gardens. The first floor has further accommodation.

Rooms

Tambo del Inka has 116 rooms plus 12 suites. We would suggest upgrading to one of the ground-floor Deluxe terrace rooms or suites, as they offer a private terrace over-looking the gardens.

Features

The aforementioned private train station is the stand-out feature. However, Tambo del Inka has a number of wonderful features, including an exceptional Spa (with hydromassage pools, water-massage beds and a host of treatments), indoor & outdoor pools and excellent food.

The private train station makes this a convenient pre/post Machu Picchu option. Great spa too.

Size means it doesn’t have the intimate feel of a boutique hotel.
