Estancia Los Potreros

The owners of Estancia Los Potreros are Anglo-Argentine in decent and are very much the hands on type, joining guests for lunch and supper every day and also frequently joining the daily riding excursions. With the herd of “paso Peruano” horses still growing and becoming more and more of a feature (this type of horse is of Peruvian decent and is famed for still having a “fifth gait” which is in between a walk and a trot. This allows for the horse to move at a much faster speed, but also allowing it to remain very comfortable), the estancia also prides itself on having plenty of other activities such as polo, walks, wine tasting, cultural evenings, golf and plenty else on offer.

The rooms and main buildings of Los Potreros date back around 100 years and they have managed to keep this old world charm while also including some of the more creature comforts of modern life such as wifi access. It is worth noting that this truly is a ranch atmosphere and feel with the rooms being heated by wood burners and all of the meals being eaten around a single table.

We are definitely fans of the Estancia Los Potreros as it has a very real feel to it, without being too simple. The riding is definitely the main draw to the place as it offers some truly exceptional riding and will certainly allow for a couple of rides a day for a week or more without getting either bored or riding the same horse twice! For those who are after a country house feel then this is the perfect retreat.
