Brazil Honeymoon
A few things to think about when planning your honeymoon to Brazil...
A Brazil honeymoon has long been a popular choice for couples travelling to South America. Whether you’re looking to relax on a beach, experience the nightlife of Rio or immerse yourselves in nature, there is something to suit every taste. Combine this with luxurious resorts, characterful city hotels and award-winning eco-lodges and you have the recipe for a very special and memorable trip.
With so much to see and do, we understand that planning a honeymoon to Brazil can seem a bit overwhelming! In this section we have tried to break down some of the main aspects to consider before sitting down to plan your trip.
Logistics
In a country as long and as wide as Brazil, it is important to think about how many places you can realistically visit in the time that you have. Often one of the most expensive parts of the trip can be internal flights and land transfers, due to the large distances involved in getting from place to place. It’s therefore important to factor these in to your budget and to think about how much of your honeymoon you want to spend travelling, and how much time you want to actually spend in each place.
To avoid spending all of your time at an airport or in a car, for a two week honeymoon, we would recommend splitting your time between 3 or 4 locations. For example, we’d suggest combining one or two locations in the interior of Brazil with a city and a nearby beach destination on the coast. Please have a look at our example itineraries and where to go section for some more ideas.
Activities:
Another important thing to consider is how you want to fill your time on your trip. Brazil caters to a whole range of different interests but instead of trying to do everything at once, we would suggest picking a few activities and centring your trip around those. Whether you're looking for nature and wildlife, beaches or culture, or a mixture of both, we've tried to break down what's on offer in our What to do section.
Timing
There is no general rule about when to visit Brazil as the weather, for the most part, stays sunny and warm for most of the year. The climate in the southern states is more similar to that of Argentina and Chile, with cold and wet weather taking over between May and October. December to March is high season and can be extremely hot in Rio and the North, so if you’re not going for New Year or the national Carnaval celebrations, which take place in February, we’d probably recommend travelling outside of these months. The best months to visit the Pantanal and the Southern Amazon are June - October when the rains stop and your chances of seeing wildlife are that much higher. Budget
Undoubtedly one of the most important things to think about in any trip, how much you are willing to spend on your honeymoon will determine how many places you can visit and the types of accommodation you opt for. While international and domestic flights can be expensive, in general, South America offers good value for money, especially in terms of the level of accommodation you can get for your money. While Brazil has it’s fair share of luxury, no expense spared resorts and hotels, for those hoping to stick to more of a budget, there are plenty of high-standard boutique hotels or guesthouses offering excellent value for money.
After considering the above points, we would recommend having a chat with you to decide what it is you want to get out of your honeymoon; do you want to explore the dense Amazon Jungle, spot jaguars in the Pantanal or laze on the white sandy beaches of Trancoso? Or would you prefer sight-seeing in Salvador da Bahia's UNESCO listed historical centre, island hopping from Paraty and Ilha Grande, or sipping caiprinhas and dancing to samba in Rio de Janeiro?
For those who are looking for a bit of help with the costs of their honeymoon, we have recently started to work with a specialist honeymoon list company called "Buy Our Honeymoon".
Unlike many of the honeymoon list companies out there, they work on a single payment process where you pay a one-off set up fee of around £30 (discounted for our clients), and you can have your own Paypal account for your guests to pay directly in to, and you will also have a fully functioning web page that guests can go to and see your itinerary along with buying any of the options through the site. Guests can then contribute towards the cost of excursions and day-trips, offering an alternative to the traditional wedding gift list. For further information on this please ask us for details.
We have personally visited all of the hotels we sell and have trusted local contacts on the ground to make sure that your honeymoon runs as smoothly as possible. This means that we are in a good position to help you make the right decisions on where to go, where to stay and what to do on your honeymoon.
If you'd like to talk through the different options for your honeymoon to Brazil please feel free to give us a call at any time or send us an email and we’ll be happy to answer your questions!
