North to South
An outstanding trip that takes you to a few of South America's most stunning sites
This is a truly magnificent itinerary for anyone that is looking to get off the beaten track. Cruising through the Magellenic Straits and rounding Cape Horn are a couple of things that only a handful will ever do. On top of this, the itinerary will take you through to the famous Torres del Paine NP, the iceflows of El Calafate and the mighty Iguazu falls. This really is one of our favourites.
Head to Buenos Aires
Fly to Buenos Aires international airport and met on arrival.
Ushuaia and the Tierra del Fuego
Met on arrival into Buenos Aires and transferred to the domestic airport for the flight down to Ushuaia. As you bank round and come in to land amidst the towering peaks of this ravaged area, you are immediately struck by its beauty. Met on arrival and transferred to Los Cauquenes for the night on a B&B basis, with a Beagle view.
Ushuaia to Punta Arenas
Met and transferred in the morning down to the docks to board the Cruceros Australis...your home for the next 3 nights! This expeditionary boat is a luxury way to cruise through some of the most inhospitable waters in the world, where famous sailors such as Sir Frances Drake and Charles Darwin once ventured. Featuring lectures and expeditions along the way, this is a privileged way to see some of the world's least visited areas.
Punta Arenas
Met in dock off the Cruceros, you will be transported to the Cabo de Hornos hotel, right in the heart of this interesting town. Once a booming town, it attracted the right and famous from right across the globe, in particular from France, where these influences can still be seen.
Torres del Paine NP
You will be met in the morning and transported through to what is, arguably, one of the most famous National Parks in the world, the Torres del Paine. This superb park is a haven for wildlife and for those keen on activities. Here you will have 3 days to take in the majesty of the views and even, if you are keen, walk up into the mount itself. Overnight in Patagonia Camp on full-board.
El Calafate
Driving in the morning from the Torres del Paine to El Calafate in Argentina gives you an impression of the sheer size and scale of these two countries and the area that is known as Patagonia. The rolling grasslands seem to extend for miles! Once you arrive in the Los Glaciares NP you are confronted by one of the wonders of Argentina, the Perito Moreno Glacier. You have 3 nights with this stunning view and activities such as ice walking and cruises on Lago Argentino to while away the hours. Overnight in the Esplendor on an all inclusive basis.
The Iguazu Falls
From El Calafate it is back to Buenos Aires and on to the mighty Iguazu Falls...one of the wonders of the world! This whole area of Argentina, again, reveals something totally different and, in stark contrast to the bleakness down south, is an oasis of lush forests and animal life. The falls themselves are like nothing else and well worth a couple of days of exploration. Overnight in the Loi Suites on a B&B basis.
Buenos Aires
We finish the trip with a few nights taking in the sights and sounds of the capital. a rich, cosmopolitan blend of cultures, this really is one of the best cities on the planet. Overnight in the Alvear Palace Hotel on a B&B basis.
