This itinerary takes you to a few of the lesser visited corners of the country
A recent itinerary that we prepared for one of our regular clients to Chile, this itinerary takes in a few of the less visited parts of the country. Starting with the remote and quirky island of Chiloe, the itinerary then takes you through the lake district, briefly dipping a toe into Argentina, before heading to the world famous Torres Del Paine. The itinerary finishes with a few days along the Pacific coast, exploring the sleepy towns that border this slumbering giant.
Santiago
Met on arrival into Santiago off your international flight and transferred to Lastarria Hotel in Santiago's Bellas Artes district to stay for 2 nights on a B&B basis. Filled with quirky cafés, restaurants and museums and within walking distance of the Cerro Santa Lucía and Parque Forestal, this is a great base from which to explore the rest of the city.
Chiloe Island
Transferred back to the airport in time for the morning flight down to Castro on the Island of Chiloe. Met on arrival and transferred to the Parque Quilquico Hotel to stay for 2 nights on a full board basis. The quiet and mythical island of Chiloé is home to a people with age-old traditions and their own unique culture. Spend the two days walking in the park surrounding the hotel or head out to explore some of the many fishing villages on the island and its windswept coastline.
Petrohue, Chilean Lake District
Transferred back to Castro Airport for the afternoon flight across to Puerto Montt. Collect your car hire and make your own way to Petrohue Lodge to stay for 3 nights on a half board basis. On the border with Argentina, this is a beautiful area of gushing waterfalls, lush national parks and turquoise lakes. Spend the next couple of days enjoying the outdoors, walking, mountain biking, kayaking or anything else you fancy!
San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina
Drop off the car in Petrohue Lodge in time for the one day lake crossing through to Bariloche in Argentina. One of the most scenic journeys in South America this is one of the best ways to appreciate the beauty and majesty of the Andes Mountain Range. Met on arrival and transferred to Peninsula Petit to stay for the night on a B&B basis.
Puerto Montt
Make own way to the bus station for the bus back across the border and through the Andes to Puerto Varas on the Chilean side. This is another fantastic journey through the mountains with views that are seen to be believed! Met and transferred to the Holiday Inn in Puerto Montt to stay for the night on a B&B basis.
Torres del Paine NP
Transferred back to the airport in time for the morning flight down to Punta Arenas. Met and transferred to the Tierra Patagonia Hotel to stay for 4 nights on an all inclusive basis including all activities while there. Spend the next four days enjoying the best of the walking and adventure activities that the Torres del Paine has to offer. With stunning views of the Torres enjoyed from all areas of the hotel, however, you may decide to just sit back and make the most of the hotel's superb facilities.
Valparaiso
Transferred back to the airport in time for the morning flight back to Santiago. Collect your hire car and drive through to the Valparaiso to stay at Casa Higueras for 2 nights on a B&B basis. This townhouse hotel set into the hills above the port of Valparaíso is an excellent base from which to explore this quirky and fascinating city on Chile's coast.
Zapallar
Spend the morning exploring Viña del Mar or the tiny fishing villages along the coast on the way up to Zapallar. After an afternoon at the beach, stay at the Isla Seca Boutique Hotel for the night on a B&B basis.
Head for home!
Drive your car back to Santiago International airport to drop off and connect with your evening international flights.
