Three thumb hotels by region
The final category of hotels that we recommend taking a look at. While many of these properties are still five star, we tend to recommend an alternative in the region that has pipped it for one reason or another. Again, this is definitely not to say that these are great properties but we would argue there are better.
Ecuador
Hotel Patio Andaluz

More...Hotel Albatros
The Hotel Albatros is the second of the 4 star hotels in the town and so would suit those who are looking to explore a little. The main areas of this reasonable sized hotel are to a good standard, as is the restaurant, café and wine cellar at the front. The rooms, however, are...
More...Macondo House

More...Hotel Posada Los Alamos
With the town being so new, it may not appear important that the Posada Los Alamos is the oldest 5 star in town, but it is worth noting….mainly as they, therefore, have much more room than anyone else. This hotel incorporates a golf course, 2 dining areas, a clubhouse, spa, pool...

More...Hotel Edelweiss

More...The Iguazu Grand Spa Resort and Casino
One of the elder statesmen of Puerto Iguazu, the Iguazu Grand Resort Spa and Casino has long held the mantle for being the place to stay while in the area (as the alternative to the Sheraton). Today, we would argue that the nearby Loi Suites is probably more deserving of the...

More...Hotel Killa
Rated by themselves as more of a B&B than a hotel, the Hotel Killa is both quirky and unique, located right in the heart of town, is a great choice. What we like most about the place is that each of the rooms has evolved into what it is today and through the use of local...

More...Hotel Cabo de Hornos
Arguably knocked off the top spot of the hotels in town by Dreams, the Cabo de Hornos is still worthy of consideration. Located right on the main square of the town, it harks back to the time when Punta Arenas was the capital of the "white gold" rush. A converted, Parisian-...
More...Remota
One of the largest and arguably most “designed’ of the hotels in and around Puerto Natales, many would say that, on paper, the Remota is number one. There is no doubt that the entrance hall, facilities and rooms are to the very highest of standards but, for us, it has been...
More...Hotel Altiplanico

More...Hotel Atton el Bosque
The Atton el Bosque, built in 2007, is a good example of the newer wave of hotels being introduced by developers rather than hoteliers. Not that this is a criticism as this is a great hotel, at a very good price, in one of the best areas of the city for dining in one of the many...
More...Hotel Lago Grey
Sitting on the southern end of the Lago Grey and looking out to the Grey Glacier, the Hotel Grey is, arguably, the second/third best property in the Park and is great for those that would like to do a glacier trip as well as seeing the Cuernos del Paine. The rooms and the lay...
More...Hotel Puelche
Puelche is not bad at all but we feel slightly neutral towards it. It is a good hotel for what it offers but feels like something is missing compared to the nearby Cumbres Patagonicas. There is little to fault this property so no doubt anyone staying here will be perfectly...
